Members also indicated they need titles such as “Medical Assistants,” “Medical Coding and Billing,” and “Personal Care Assistants.”

Training/Education
Becoming a nurse begins with completing one or more of the following training/educational programs:
- Goodwill Industries – Big Bend, Inc.’s “Certified Nursing Assistant” Certification Program
- Tom P. Haney Technical College’s “Practical Nursing” Program
- Gulf Coast State College’s “Certified Nursing Assistant,” “Practical Nursing,” & “Bachelor of Science in Nursing” Programs
- Florida State University Panama City Campus’ Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Program
After completing a training/educational program, nurses must also obtain licensure to work in the state of Florida:
Skills/Experience
- People Skills, Nursing Competencies
- Care of elderly residents and rehabilitation residents
- Total patient care, medication administration, wound care management, critical thinking skills
- National Certification by Credentialing Agency
- Customer service skills
- Clinical basic medical knowledge, desire to provide hands-on medical care, transcription, compassion
- Attention to detail, strong communication skills, knowledge of basic medical procedures, strong written communication, computer/technology skills
- Customer service, nursing care, computer skills, etc.
