Job Description
POSITION: Vice President of Strategic Partnerships
ACCOUNTABLE TO: President/CEO
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for a strategic partnership strategy focused on enhancing the Chamber’s impact and reach in the military, education, community, and government sectors.
2. Cultivate relationships and influence in key areas such as childcare, workforce development, affordable housing, and community development to address critical needs within the community.
3. Assist in achieving the Bay County Chamber’s annual “Key Priorities” by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive strategic initiatives forward.
4. Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels to advocate for policies and funding aligned with the Chamber’s mission and priorities.
5. Lead the development and execution of the annual Legislative Update to keep stakeholders informed about legislative developments affecting the Chamber and its members.
6. Keep the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and membership informed on legislative, military, and community issues relevant to the Chamber’s goals.
7. Coordinate local, state, and national governmental affairs activities to ensure effective representation of Chamber interests.
8. Play a key role in implementing the Political Action Committee’s (PAC) goals and objectives in coordination with the CEO and other relevant stakeholders.
9. Collaborate with educational institutions to establish partnerships that promote educational opportunities, workforce development, and career and technical training.
10. Organize monthly city/county manager meetings to foster collaboration and communication between government officials and Chamber leadership.
11. Coordinate annual trips to Tallahassee to deliver Chamber priorities and advocate for the community’s needs at the state level.
12. Assist in the coordination of the annual trip to Tallahassee for Leadership Bay State Government Day to engage future community leaders in governmental affairs.
13. Monitor local commission meetings and public hearings to stay informed about issues impacting the business community.
14. Develop and manage volunteers for the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee to support advocacy efforts.
15. Research and assist in the develop position papers on identified issues for consideration by Chamber leadership.
16. Monitor elections and coordinate candidate events, such as First Friday, to engage Chamber members in the political process.17. Coordinate and organize all Military Affairs Committee (MAC) activities in collaboration with the MAC Chairman and base officials.
18. Serve as a liaison between the Chamber and the military to support collaboration and communication.
19. Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop messaging and materials highlighting the Chamber’s partnerships and impact.
20. Write articles for Bay Biz Magazine’s Political Perspective and Defense Intel sections to provide insights on relevant issues.
21. Assist with special projects as directed by the President/CEO to support the Chamber’s overall mission and objectives.
22. Provide information regarding governmental affairs and strategic partnerships for the weekly e-Biz newsletter to keep Chamber members informed.
MINIMUM SKILLS/EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Skills: Excellent computer knowledge and organizational skills, knowledge of governmental process and public policy.
Strong understanding of local government processes and legislative procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, business leaders, and community members.
Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities. Commitment to the mission and values of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred in Political Science, Social Science, Public Administration or related field. Related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience: Three years’ experience in related government relations, public policy or roles
