DESCRIPTION:TRiO at Gulf Coast State College is set to celebrate First-Generation Day on November 6th\, 2024 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm (CST) on the Gulf Coast Panama City Campus. \n\n\n\nThis event coincides with the 60th anniversary of Federal TRiO Programs—which break down higher education barriers for low-income families\, first-generation college students\, and students with disabilities. \n\n\n\n“First-Generation Day will serve as a platform to recognize the resilience and determination of students who will be the first in their family to achieve a college degree\,” said Kris Hatcher\, Director of TRiO Programs at GCSC.  “We hope everyone joins us on Wednesday to shine a spotlight on the accomplishments of Gulf Coast State College’s first-generation students.” \n\n\n\nThe event at Gulf Coast State College will feature activities and celebration. DESCRIPTION:Help Us Celebrate 11 Years of Soar! \n\n\n\nPublic Eye Soar returns to Gulf Coast on November 8 – 9\, 2024\, from 6pm-10pm\, on the Panama City Campus. Join us for a free outdoor art festival featuring projected art\, animation\, music\, theatre\, dance and interactive activities. \n\n\n\nSubmissions closed for Public Eye Soar 2024 on September 1st and it was an avalanche of creativity and art.  Over the last eleven years\, hundreds of artists from all over the world have shared thousands of pieces of art and transformed dozens of buildings throughout Bay County into the largest\, free\, outdoor public art gallery in the Southeastern United States. The Public Eye Soar Projection and Light Festival celebrates eleven years of sharing art in all of its forms in unexpected places and ways to delight\, surprise\, educate and inspire our community. \n\n\n\nTogether\, Public Eye Soar and Gulf Coast State College are partnering on November 8 and 9\, 2024\, from 6pm to 10pm to display art on the beautiful architecture of GCSC. SOAR 2024 will feature artists from around the world and from our own vibrant local art scene. New installations\, visual surprises and interactive art displays are already in production. Festival favorites will return like Sand art\, GCSC Living Statues\, the Shadow Dome and JD’s Fun House. Live music\, dance and interactive experiences like the GCSC Lost City exhibit and the Yellow Room will delight all ages. Plus\, the Veterans Honor Wall will return to celebrate our veterans during the festival. \n\n\n\nThe Public Eye Soar 2024 Presenting sponsors are St. Joe Community Foundation\, Gulf Coast State College\, Chevron\, Destination Panama City\, and The Charles A. DESCRIPTION:Gulf Coast State College’s Visual & Performing Arts Division is hosting three upcoming events for the public to enjoy: the Seventeenth Annual Cup Show\, a national ceramics exhibition\, and two holiday concerts featuring GCSC’s music ensembles. Both events are free and open to the public. \n\n\n\n17th Annual Cup Show: Form and Function \n\n\n\nThis nationally juried show is a survey of the wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics through the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel\, the cup. The central theme of the exhibition is the function and concept of the drinking vessel\, including its relation to history\, politics\, craft\, technology\, utility and narrative. The juror of the show this year is Martha Grover. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit opens with a reception on Friday\, November 15\, 2024\, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. CST and runs through December 6\, 2024\, in the Amelia Center Gallery (Room 112). \n\n\n\nGallery Hours: \n\n\n\n\nMonday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.\n\n\n\nFriday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nHoliday Concerts: Jazz Band\, Singing Commodores\, Concert Chorale & Concert Band \n\n\n\nEnjoy GCSC’s holiday concerts\, starting with the Jazz Band and Singing Commodores on Friday\, November 22\, 2024\, at 7:30 p.m.\, followed by the Concert Chorale and Concert Band on Sunday\, November 24\, 2024\, at 2:30 p.m.  Join us as we showcase our Gulf Coast State College music ensembles. DESCRIPTION:The GCSC Health Sciences Dual Enrollment Academy is hosting an Open House on Thursday\, November 21\, 2024\, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm CST\, on the Panama City Campus\, Health Sciences Building. \n\n\n\nStudents in 8th – 12th grade and their parents or guardians are invited to join us for an informative session on how high school students can get a head start on the required courses (prerequisites) needed for GCSC’s health sciences and nursing programs. \n\n\n\n\nBy taking these courses early\, students have the opportunity to apply to their chosen program sooner\, reducing their program completion times\, and accelerating their entry into a desired health sciences or nursing career.
