DESCRIPTION:Gulf Coast State College’s Visual and Performing Arts is excited to announce its upcoming presentation of the classic play ‘Blood Wedding’ (Spanish: Bodas de Sangre) by Spanish playwright Federico García Lorca\, translated by Lillian Groag. \n\n\n\nSet in mystical rural Spain at the turn of the century\, ‘Blood Wedding’ revolves around the merging of two families as they unite to arrange a marriage. While the surface shows joy and celebration\, the unfolding narrative takes a tragic turn as a complex love triangle is revealed. \n\n\n\nOriginally produced in 1933\, this timeless masterpiece explores profound themes such as the unbreakable ties of family and the far-reaching consequences of violence—themes that continue to resonate with audiences today. \n\n\n\nEvent details: \n\n\n\n\nPerformance dates:\n\nOctober 27-28\, 7:30 pm\n\n\n\nOctober 29\, 2:30 pm\n\n\n\nNovember 2-4\, 7:30 pm\n\n\n\nNovember 5\, 2:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Amelia G. SUMMARY:GCSC VPA presents the 16th Annual Cup Show: Form and Function
DESCRIPTION:The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College is proud to present the Sixteenth Annual Cup Show: Form and Function. This nationally juried show is a survey of the wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics through the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel\, the cup. The central theme of the exhibition is the function and concept of the drinking vessel\, including its relation to history\, politics\, craft\, technology\, utility and narrative.
