DESCRIPTION:The fair is taking place from October 3-7 at the Bay County Fairgrounds in Panama City. \n\n\n\nIt’s the first time the fairgrounds have hosted the event since Hurricane Michael five years ago. \n\n\n\nThere will be a car show\, arts and crafts\, live animals\, activities and much more. \n\n\n\n“We’re going to have a lot of events going on here. Rides\, Ferris wheels\, other rides\, we’ll have cotton candy\, of course\, the police officers\, all sorts of food will be here\, the vendors will be here\, and a lot of rides for the children also\,” said Tony Vincent\, General Manager of the fair. \n\n\n\nOfficials want attendees to know that there will be some changes when it comes to getting into the fair. \n\n\n\nThere will be no weapons of any kind allowed at the fairgrounds. \n\n\n\nOfficials say there will be metal detectors at the front gates. \n\n\n\nAnyone wishing to enter must pass through the security check in order to gain admission. \n\n\n\n“Don’t bring a knife\, and don’t bring a gun\, and use common sense. The Family Service Agency of Bay County provides support and resources to homeless families and families in need throughout the Bay County Area. \nAttendees will enjoy an incredibly fun golf game\, prizes\, raffles\, breakfast\, lunch\, a bloody mary bar & After Party.  On-site registration and breakfast will begin at 8 am\, with a shotgun start at 9 am. There will be awards for 1st\, 2nd & 3rd place\, closest to the pin\, longest drive & more! \nRegistration is open now and CPAR is seeking both golf teams and sponsors for the event. In 2022\, this tournament raised $20\,000 for Sims Veterans Home and it is CPAR’s goal to raise even more in 2023! DESCRIPTION:LYNN HAVEN ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING OF NEW CITY HALL/POLICE DEPARTMENT AND EOC BUILDING \n\n\n\nOn October 10\, 2018\, Category 5 Hurricane Michael made a direct hit on Bay County – destroying nearly everything in its path\, including many government buildings within our city. Now\, exactly five years later\, the City of Lynn Haven is excited to announce a Grand Opening Celebration to commemorate the completion of the new City Hall\, Police Department\, Emergency Operations Center\, and Chamber will be held on October 10\, 2023\, at 10 AM at 825 Ohio Avenue. \n\n\n\nThe community is invited to help celebrate this momentous day for the city. Parking for the event will be available at the Senior Activity Club and the First Baptist Church of Lynn Haven parking lots. Shuttle services will be available to accommodate the highly anticipated number of attendees. The opening ceremony will begin promptly at 10 AM in the courtyard with opening remarks from City Manager Vickie Gainer and Mayor Jesse Nelson\, along with remarks from special guests and a ribbon cutting with the Bay County Chamber of Commerce and Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce. \n\n\n\nFollowing the opening ceremony\, tours of the new building will be coordinated by city staff\, and hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments will be served by Vittles Catering. \n\n\n\nThe City of Lynn Haven celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony that commenced the project’s construction on May 19\, 2021. The new two-story building is approximately 42\,228 -gross sq. ft. In addition\, the circa 1928 two-story historic City Hall portion (approx. 5\,600 – gross sq. ft.) has been restored.  The city’s rebuild and restoration of its facilities began in 2020 with the remodeling and construction of buildings and other facilities to include\, the Lynn Haven Garden Club\, Lynn Haven Senior Activity Center\, Cain Griffin Ballfields which included a new concession stand\, batting cages and a new Splash Pad\, Sports Complex Ballfields and concession stand\, The Charlie J. Smith Gymnasium\, city parks\, fire station #1\, public works building\, to name a few. \n\n\n\nWhile reflecting on the completion of this historic milestone\, Lynn Haven City Manager Vickie Gainer states\, “We have come a long way since October 10\, 2018.  We know that this is a historic day for the city and the residents of Lynn Haven. It marks a memorable moment for our community that will last forever. DESCRIPTION:This October 13-15\, 2023 at Aaron Bessant Park in Pier Park\, PCB Oktoberfest is on for three days of German beer\, food\, music\, as well as activities for kids and families. \n\n\n\nThe event will feature a massive 150’x50′ tent decorated like the authentic Oktoberfest tent in Munich\, Germany\, as well as two outdoor beer gardens and a VIP section under the tent. \n\n\n\nGet ready for great German food! Pair your beer with brats\, either famous or smoked\, meterwurst\, or hot dogs (with or without sauerkraut). \n\n\n\nPlus\, nothing is better with your new and old favorite beer than giant pretzels with beer-infused cheese. SUMMARY:GCSC Presents Transference
DESCRIPTION:Sculptors and potters take on the challenge of two-dimensional media. \n\n\n\nGCSC’s Visual & Performing Arts Division presents “Transference”\, an exhibition featuring work by ceramic artists Molly Bishop\, Carole Epp\, TJ Erdahl\, Tammy Marinuzzi\, Ian Petrie\, and Michelle Summers. \n\n\n\nWhile these artists work primarily in clay\, all of their work has a strong graphic/illustrative component. It is that illustrative component that will be the focus of the exhibit. To that end the artists were asked to put away the clay and grab a piece of paper. The challenge was to focus on the image as the end goal not as decoration for a three-dimensional object. The work in the exhibit is the result of that challenge. \n\n\n\n“Transference” will run from October 13 to November 10\, 2023\, with an opening reception on October 13\, 2023\, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Amelia Center Gallery (AC112).
