SUMMARY:GCSC Presents Transference
DESCRIPTION:Sculptors and potters take on the challenge of two-dimensional media. \n\n\n\nGCSC’s Visual & Performing Arts Division presents “Transference”\, an exhibition featuring work by ceramic artists Molly Bishop\, Carole Epp\, TJ Erdahl\, Tammy Marinuzzi\, Ian Petrie\, and Michelle Summers. \n\n\n\nWhile these artists work primarily in clay\, all of their work has a strong graphic/illustrative component. It is that illustrative component that will be the focus of the exhibit. To that end the artists were asked to put away the clay and grab a piece of paper. The challenge was to focus on the image as the end goal not as decoration for a three-dimensional object. The work in the exhibit is the result of that challenge. \n\n\n\n“Transference” will run from October 13 to November 10\, 2023\, with an opening reception on October 13\, 2023\, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Amelia Center Gallery (AC112). SUMMARY:Coast Guard Community Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:On October 26\, an official Coast Guard Community Ceremony will be held at the Panama City Marina (1 Harrison Ave\, Panama City) at 1 p.m. Coast Guard Commandant\, Adm. Linda Fagan is scheduled to bestow this honor to Bay County. The community is invited to celebrate this historic moment in Bay County. \n\n\n\nIn June of last year\, the Bay County Chamber applied to designate Bay County as a Coast Guard Community. The application package included: \n\n\n\n– Letters of support from each of our municipalities as well as the county– Letter from our federal and state elected officials\, including a letter from Congressman Dunn– Letters from other community stakeholders– Pages of specific examples of this community support Coast Guard and military families. \n\n\n\nThe application goes through a lengthy approval process\, including a review by Congress and the Commandant of the US Coast Guard. In August of 2023\, Bay County was official approved as a Coast Guard Community. \n\n\n\nThe Coast Guard City program was established by Congress in 1998 to recognize the support local governments and communities provide to Coast Guard members and their families. There are currently 30 Coast Guard Cities nationwide. \n\n\n\nMore information about Coast Guard cities can be found at https://www.uscg.mil/Community/cities/.

Thanks to the generosity of its supporters in the Gulf Coast Area through events like the Sporting Clay Classic\, the Gulf Coast Council has been able to provide local Scouts with camps and facilities that are fundamental to helping young men and women.   The Sporting Clay Classic will be held at The Oaks Sporting Clays Range located at 4418 Cooper Lane in Holt. It costs $700 per team or $175 for individual shooters. Boy Scouts of America is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
