Join us for a free outdoor art festival featuring projected art\, animation\, music\, theatre\, dance and interactive activities. \n\n\n\nSubmissions closed for Public Eye Soar 2024 on September 1st and it was an avalanche of creativity and art.  Over the last eleven years\, hundreds of artists from all over the world have shared thousands of pieces of art and transformed dozens of buildings throughout Bay County into the largest\, free\, outdoor public art gallery in the Southeastern United States. The Public Eye Soar Projection and Light Festival celebrates eleven years of sharing art in all of its forms in unexpected places and ways to delight\, surprise\, educate and inspire our community. \n\n\n\nTogether\, Public Eye Soar and Gulf Coast State College are partnering on November 8 and 9\, 2024\, from 6pm to 10pm to display art on the beautiful architecture of GCSC. SOAR 2024 will feature artists from around the world and from our own vibrant local art scene. New installations\, visual surprises and interactive art displays are already in production. Festival favorites will return like Sand art\, GCSC Living Statues\, the Shadow Dome and JD’s Fun House. DESCRIPTION:The Wall That Heals \n\n\n\nThe Bay County Veterans Council is honored to Host the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall\, “The Wall That Heals” in Bay County this November. \n\n\n\nThe Wall That Heals honors the 58\,281 service members who lost their lives and all those who served defending our country during the Vietnam War.  A traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington\, D.C.\, the exhibit consists of The Wall That Heals replica and the Mobile Education Center.  This three-quarter scale replica is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit is free to the public and will be on display at the Callaway Recreational Complex\, Callaway FL.  The Wall That Heals will arrive under motorcycle escort on November 12th 2024\, and will be open 24 hours a day beginning Thursday\, November 14th\, until closing Sunday\, November 17th\, at 2:00 p.m. \n\n\n\nOf the 1\,280 names inscribed from Florida\, twenty-three (23) are from Bay County\, and six (6) are from Gulf County.  One of the prominent names from Port St. Joe is Clifford Chester Sims\, a Medal of Honor recipient and namesake for the State Veterans Nursing Home in Callaway. \n\n\n\nBringing The Wall That Heals to Bay County is a significant endeavor\, one that demands both effort and financial support. We invite you to consider contributing to this cause\, as your donation\, whether financial or in-kind\, can make a meaningful difference. Both events are free and open to the public. \n\n\n\n17th Annual Cup Show: Form and Function \n\n\n\nThis nationally juried show is a survey of the wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics through the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel\, the cup. The central theme of the exhibition is the function and concept of the drinking vessel\, including its relation to history\, politics\, craft\, technology\, utility and narrative. DESCRIPTION:Gulf Coast State College’s Visual & Performing Arts Division is hosting three upcoming events for the public to enjoy: the Seventeenth Annual Cup Show\, a national ceramics exhibition\, and two holiday concerts featuring GCSC’s music ensembles. Both events are free and open to the public. \n\n\n\n17th Annual Cup Show: Form and Function \n\n\n\nThis nationally juried show is a survey of the wide variety of approaches to contemporary ceramics through the lens of the most intimate and accessible vessel\, the cup. The central theme of the exhibition is the function and concept of the drinking vessel\, including its relation to history\, politics\, craft\, technology\, utility and narrative. The juror of the show this year is Martha Grover. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit opens with a reception on Friday\, November 15\, 2024\, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. CST and runs through December 6\, 2024\, in the Amelia Center Gallery (Room 112). \n\n\n\nGallery Hours: \n\n\n\n\nMonday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.\n\n\n\nFriday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.\n\n\n\n\nHoliday Concerts: Jazz Band\, Singing Commodores\, Concert Chorale & Concert Band \n\n\n\nEnjoy GCSC’s holiday concerts\, starting with the Jazz Band and Singing Commodores on Friday\, November 22\, 2024\, at 7:30 p.m.\, followed by the Concert Chorale and Concert Band on Sunday\, November 24\, 2024\, at 2:30 p.m.  Join us as we showcase our Gulf Coast State College music ensembles. Festivities will kick off at 5:30 PM. The tree lighting will be held at exactly 6:00 PM with a countdown by City Manager\, Vickie Gainer. \n\n\n\nAttendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the musical performances in the park. There will be a photo opportunity with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus\, free hot chocolate and cookies\, and food for purchase through food trucks on-site. The lighting of the 35-foot Christmas Tree symbolizes the start of all holiday events for City of Lynn Haven residents. \n\n\n\nMayor Jesse Nelson shares that the holiday season is always memorable in the City of Lynn Haven.
