SUMMARY:GCSC Visual and Performing Arts Presents Paradise Revisited
DESCRIPTION:The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents Paradise Revisited by Michelle Jones. The rich\, colorful paintings in the exhibit are inspired by the landscape of the Gulf Coast. Just like the Gulf Coast\, they are at once dazzling and confrontational. The beauty of the images draws you in\, only to reveal the surprises within.  \n\n\n\nMichelle Jones\, is a native of central Mississippi. She received her BFA in painting from the University of Mississippi and her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art. After a decade in Boston\, she returned to the South and now resides in Mobile\, AL. Her recent solo exhibitions include the Alabama Contemporary Art Center and the Kentucky Art Center. DESCRIPTION:GCSC’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program is hosting an Open House on Tuesday\, February 6th\, 2024\, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm CST in the PTA Lab in the Health Sciences Building\, Room 329. \n\n\n\nAttendees will tour the lab and equipment utilized in the PTA program\, as well as receive guidance for completing the PTA program application packet. \n\n\n\n“Our team is excited to welcome the community to our Open House\,” said Melinda Cumbaa PTA Program Coordinator. “With recent changes that have been made to the PTA program application\, this event is an ideal opportunity for prospective students to learn more about how to apply and get their questions answered.” \n\n\n\nThe Gulf Coast PTA program trains skilled healthcare professionals to deliver physical therapy services under the guidance of a physical therapist (PT). This may include guiding patients through therapeutic exercises\, applying physical agents like heat and cold\, and communicating with the PT as the patient’s medical condition changes. DESCRIPTION:The Gulf Coast State College Dental Hygiene Program is hosting its annual “Kidz Klinic” in celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month. From February 19-22\, 2024\, kids ages 3-17 are invited to receive complimentary dental hygiene services at GCSC’s Dental Clinic on the Panama City Campus. \n\n\n\nDental services include a dental exam\, cleaning\, fluoride treatments\, oral hygiene instruction and any necessary x-rays. Children and parents will receive information on childhood tooth decay prevention\, when to expect changes from primary to permanent teeth\, and proper brushing and flossing techniques. \n\n\n\nThe purpose of “Kidz Klinic” is to raise awareness about oral health and provide an opportunity for kids in the community to receive dental treatment at no cost to their families. The event is designed to provide a fun\, positive environment for kids to learn how to care for their teeth and receive necessary dental treatment without feeling scared or overwhelmed. \n\n\n\nThe GCSC Dental Clinic is located in the first floor of the Health Sciences building on the Panama City Campus.
