SUMMARY:TRiO at GCSC to Host FAFSA Night
DESCRIPTION:In accordance with the White House and the U.S. Department of Education’s announcement of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Week of Action\, TRiO at GCSC will host a FAFSA Night on Tuesday\, April 23\, 2024\, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. CST in Student Union West (SUW) on the Panama City Campus. \n\n\n\nThe FAFSA is required for any college student looking to receive financial aid\, and the application is new this year. High School seniors\, prospective college students\, and GCSC students are invited to attend this event and get assistance completing the FAFSA application. \n\n\n\n“Although filling out a FAFSA can sometimes be challenging\, this year’s version has been particularly difficult to navigate. Unfortunately\, 2024-25 FAFSA submissions are currently down 27% and 16% of the applications that have been submitted contain inadvertent errors which require follow-up. TRiO subsequently encourages students and parents to visit our Educational Opportunity Center so we can help you submit or correct the FAFSA.” \n\n\n\nA Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID is required for a student and any contributors to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA. The FSA ID must be generated at least 24 business hours in advance of completing the FAFSA in order to have your tax information automatically uploaded to your application. We recommend bringing your 2022 tax documents with you to the event in case there are any issues with the data exchange between the FAFSA and the IRS. For more information\, visit studentaid.gov \n\n\n\nFor questions or more information\, please contact Kris Hatcher at khatcher1@gulfcoast.edu or (850) 873-3526.
