SUMMARY:GCSC VPA Presents “Inconceivable”
DESCRIPTION:The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents “Inconceivable” by Poppy Garcia. Garcia’s work is a combination of painting\, collage\, and a healthy dose of pop culture references. He uses a palette reminiscent of a Florida sunset and visual elements inspired by esoteric iconography\, classic cartoons\, and early Chicano Art. In “Inconceivable”\, Garcia examines our relationship to media and popular culture\, the role it plays in constructing our sense of a history\, and how we use that history to build a collective future. \n\n\n\nPoppy Garcia is an artist and curator from the Gulf Coast of Florida\, where they currently live and work. DESCRIPTION:The City of Lynn Haven invites everyone to our inaugural International Food Truck Friday event on Friday\, March 1\, 2024. The event will be held from 5:00– 8:30 PM at Sharon Sheffield Park. \n\n\n\nInternational Food Truck Friday is a free event geared toward exploring diverse flavors from an array of food trucks across Bay County. More than 20 food trucks will be aligned along Pennsylvania Avenue and 10th Street\, offering cuisines from various backgrounds. \n\n\n\nExperience an unforgettable evening of culturally diverse performances held on the Sheffield Park stage along with lawn games and face painters set up throughout the park for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to come out and bring a lawn chair or blanket\, and don’t forget an appetite! \n\n\n\nAs the city introduces this culturally infused festival to the community\, Lynn Haven City Manager Vickie Gainer states\, “International Food Truck Friday is a great opportunity for all people\, no matter their background\, to be together\, collectively appreciating the uniqueness of cultures that are also not our own. Hunter. \n\n\n\nThis captivating play\, guest directed by Doug Gilliland\, takes the audience on a poignant journey through the life of Eddie\, the manager of an Italian chain restaurant in the charming town of Pocatello\, Idaho. This heart-wrenching comedy serves as a powerful plea for human connection in the midst of an increasingly isolated American society. The play explores the struggles and challenges faced by Eddie as he navigates the complexities of his personal and professional life. \n\n\n\nPlease Note: ‘Pocatello’ contains adult language and themes\, making it unsuitable for children. However\, for those seeking a captivating and emotionally charged theatrical experience\, this play is not to be missed. The performances will take place in the intimate setting of the Theatre Lab\, ensuring an immersive and engaging experience for the audience. \n\n\n\nDue to limited seating\, it is highly recommended to secure advance tickets. However\, for those who are unable to do so\, a waiting list will be available starting 30 minutes before each performance. Seats will be allocated on a first-come\, first-served basis to those on the waiting list.
