This commemorative event will feature captivating performances from local organizations\, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry that unites us. Starting at 11:30 AM\, elected officials will grace the occasion as guest speakers to share insights into the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. \n\n\n\nAttendees can expect a variety of meal and treat options from food trucks and explore the offerings from booth vendors\, adding an extra layer of vibrancy to the festivities. SUMMARY:GCSC Visual and Performing Arts Presents Paradise Revisited
DESCRIPTION:The Visual & Performing Arts Division of Gulf Coast State College presents Paradise Revisited by Michelle Jones. The rich\, colorful paintings in the exhibit are inspired by the landscape of the Gulf Coast. Just like the Gulf Coast\, they are at once dazzling and confrontational. The beauty of the images draws you in\, only to reveal the surprises within.  \n\n\n\nMichelle Jones\, is a native of central Mississippi. She received her BFA in painting from the University of Mississippi and her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art. After a decade in Boston\, she returned to the South and now resides in Mobile\, AL. Her recent solo exhibitions include the Alabama Contemporary Art Center and the Kentucky Art Center. She was recently awarded a 2024 Individual Arts Fellowship from Alabama State Council on the Arts. \n\n\n\n\nThe exhibit runs from January 26 to February 23 in the Amelia Center for the Arts Gallery\n\n\n\nOpening reception: Friday\, January 26\, from 5pm–7pm (Michelle will present a talk during the reception)\n\n\n\nGallery hours are Monday–Thursday\, 10am–6pm; Friday\, 10am–4pm\n\n\n\nAdmission is free and open to the public\n\n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact Pavel Amromin at pamromin@gulfcoast.edu\, 850-872-3886.
